About Me — Shane Beattie

I am just a boring, middle-aged man.

Personal Image of Me

What can I say that is interesting to others? I was born (my birthday intentionally NOT disclosed) in Waukegan, Illinois. Shortly after, we moved to Vermont, which I call home. We were single-income, where my Dad started as a janitor for a Middle School, but with some hard work and dedication, moved into an administrative role in Higher Education for a Technical School.

My Mom stayed at home for the first ten years, but it changed when my Dad and Mom separated/divorced. My Mom then shifted into various customer service jobs, trying to make ends meet. She is a native of Cambodia and escaped to the United States during the Khmer Rouge regime, so she had no formal education, making job attainment near impossible. Regardless, she made it work until I could get a full-time job at 16 to help out.

I was your average kid (I’d say). I went to school, attempted different sports, failed, and scraped by my K-12 studies with a solid 2.6 GPA. My full-time job as a sophomore into my senior year contributed to my bad grades, mainly because I was a piece of garbage that didn’t take accountability for my actions.

In 2007, I somehow managed to get into College a year early through a unique program where you did your Senior year/first year of College together. I still think it was to hit the DEI initiative…
